Celebrating Diversity Amongst Bloggers – Post 8

Post 8 — 4 weeks in already!! This one is from Bethany; if you’re anything to do with WordPress, or Twitter, or just the Internet really, you’ll know Bethany. She’s a great blogger, and a brilliant friend — I’ll let her take it away.

Hey everyone!!

Before I begin with my section, I would like to give a huge thank you to Kel for allowing me to take part in this project.I think it’s a brilliant idea and hopefully will allow people to see just how diverse and beautiful the blogging community is.

So, my name is Bethany. I’m sixteen and I live in a rural part of England. I blog at http://www.bethanyandbooks.wordpress.com where I talk about books and my sexuality. When people describe me, they seem to always use the words shy, quiet, clever but when you get to know me I think they change. Okay, maybe not the clever part but when I become comfortable around people, I talk a lot more. As part of my Drama GCSE I had to play the character of a bully and during a rehearsal, I invited a couple of my friends to watch it. It’s fair to share that they were shocked, seeing me as this character but it was a LOT of fun.

Anyway, I’ve just completed my GCSEs in English Literature, English Language, Maths, Combined Science, History, Media Studies, Drama and Art. After I hopefully get the good results I need, I’m looking at going to my current school’s sixth form to study English Literature, History, Drama and Theatre Studies and Media Studies. Yes, I’m doing four essay subjects and everyone thinks I’m crazy but I don’t really care.

When it comes to what I’m good at, this varies depending who you talk to. To some people I’m great at Drama, to some people I’m good at Art. Personally, I think what I’m good at is reading, possibly writing and being there for people. I am honestly the mum when it comes to friendship groups and I also kind of act as a therapist to them. The one thing that I can guarantee you I’m not good at is sports, I am definitely better at the academic sides of things than the sport side. I did get pretty good at tennis but then my school dropped it so, yeah, I’m bad at sports.

I have a lot of interests, too many you might say. Of course, I love reading and writing but I also love a lot of things that you may or may not expect. I also enjoy watching Korean Dramas, listening to K-Pop, playing video games, watching films, photography to name a few. I’m a pretty diverse person when it comes to my interests which I personally think is pretty cool.

Honestly, I don’t know what I want to do when “I grow up”. The ultimate dream is to become an author. I’ve had that dream for as long as I can remember and I’d love that dream to one day become a reality. I know whatever happens, I want to continue blogging. I can not imagine a life without it. I think I want to go to University to study Creative Writing or Journalism but I guess we’ll have to see as I start doing more research this year. My thoughts will probably be completely different this time next year.

So, there you have it! I hope you found that interesting and know a bit more about me.

Bethany x
