BLOGMAS 2017 — #Day5: Christmas Playlist

As many of my avid readers know – because obvs I have ‘avid readers’ –, I really like music.
I flippin’ love it, actually. All times of year, any mood, any time – music is my go-to, my friend in lonely times; it’s part of me.
And Christmas, of course, it no exception – far from it. Below are some of my fav Christmas jams… Innit.

• I’m too lazy to go and find the YouTube/Spotify links for all of these; if you type the names/artists of the songs into YouTube/spotify/whatever you want to use, you’ll find them. Do some of the work for yourself for a change, lazy… *

Underneath The Tree – Kelly Clarkson
A brilliant modern-Christmas song (I feel like w’re lacking those); one of my favs every year … since it came out, I mean.

Snow in California – Ariana Grande
Yeah, it’s pretty good overall to be fair.

Santa Baby – Kylie Minogue
This Christmas classic has been covered SOO many times I can’t even.
This is by far my favourite cover, though, and I just think it’s fab. Plus Kylie.
Everyone loves Kylie.

Christmas Wrapping – The Waitresses
Now, I’m not being funny, but whoever writes this song should’ve really got the sack: simply saying ‘Merry Christmas’ really quickly so nobody notices that it doesn’t quite fit the tune is not songwriting.
But it’s brilliant, you have to admit – it’s bloody brilliant, and I don’t even know why.
Also, upon listening to it just now, I’ve just noticed how depressed the vocalists sound OMG

One More Sleep – Leona Lewis
Another cuteee Christmas jam: love the cute ones I do.

Fairytale of New York
How couldn’t I include this one? It is, without a doubt, my all-time Christmas fav, probs because I just love doing ‘drunk voice’ for the male vocalist: it is the key to breaking the ice at any slightly uncomfortable Christmas party.

Driving Home for Christmas – Chris Rea
Thi Christmas song just makes me feel a bit emotional, I’m not gonna lie. I don’t even know why – it’s a fairly happy Christmas song, as Christmas songs go to be honest, but still. It’s just kinda heartstring-pulling, no?

And finally…

All I Want for Christmas Is You – Mariah Carey
The opening notes to this song are Christmas.
That is all Christmas is. I hear them and my stomach goes all butterfly-y, and I get all excited because it’s Christmas and I love it.
And it’s cliché but shhh I’m a camp teenage boy leave me alone.

What did you think of my festive playlist then? Any new ones to you on there? What classics have I overlooked?

  1. Fairytale of New York is ICONIC. And for some reason I associate it with Snoopy’s Christmas – maybe because those two are my mum’s favourites? All I Want For Christmas is also amazing, and just perfect to sing in an overly dramatic way. Also, I’ve now caught up on all these Blogmas posts, and I am feeling maximum Christmas, and I LOVE IT
